Paignton beach, sunny September
We have our little place in Devon (details over at my mama blog), near Totnes, on the edge of Dartmoor. We plan to move in around October 1st. I've promised Miss4 plenty of beach visits, even if it means coats and wellies - the beach is the beach. At 20-30 minutes away, it'll be rude not to visit.
Perhaps a few secret forest visits for me.
Lots of stress to contend with (not my own), but the very worst has abated. Ugly details ahead, discomforts...
How lovely if this were our settling down, but 'tis only a stepping stone. Yet there is a figurative bounce to my step and a smile on my weary face. After all, I left my heart in Devon, and my mind has been there all week, now it's left for my body to follow.
Sometimes stepping stones can help to show more about us to ourselves than the final destination. Sending you many good thoughts for things to go smoothly for you.
ReplyDeletethank you darlin'.
Deletei've always loved stepping stones myself...
Took a peek at the Mama blog--cottage cozy and charming and a winter beach sounds inspiring and nourishing. Great to be so close to the Steiner school too.
ReplyDeleteyes, nowhere else was that close, so a big score on that front.
DeleteStepping stones can be so instrumental in figuring out exactly what we need, especially when we move to a new place where we don't really know anything. Glad you have a smile on your face.
ReplyDeleteyou know what it's like with little ones. don't like changing her environment so much. a rental place of a year would have been preferable. but pleased as punch to have found this sweet place at least.
DeleteHow exciting, I think when we move to the coast it may be better to rent for a while to get our bearings! The good thing about small is less house to attend to and more time for important things like beach combing!
ReplyDeleteHappy Days to follow :~)xxx
...cheaper heating bills, cocooning during winter.... lol definitely all pluses for me.
DeleteAm so glad you will once again be able to find your own rhythm of life in your own space - and "new" rhythms too :) Your new place looks so quaint and cozy, despite its being small. And as you say, it's a "stepping stone" - love that... Life is kinda like that - just stepping stones to nowhere really... It's all an adventure of being... (I need to remember this! :) And who ever knows what will be revealed as your "next step" as you hold your heart open to life... Am glad you are feeling a lightness in your step again... Looking forward to hearing of your new adventures :) Heart Hugs - Christine
ReplyDeletethank you.
Deletei think i felt a ton more lightness when i didn't have the little one to consider. a child that prefers consistency. so for her, i would like to settle soon.
as for me.... chuckle... always wandering.....
Yes, I can understand having to take your daughter into consideration... I never had children, so wasn't even thinking about that in my comment. Gosh, I *still* need consistency, and I'm nearly 63!! lol...
Deleteyes. happy for you to have this big but important piece fall into place. sending peace your way.
ReplyDeletethank you so much.
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by. What a beautiful space you have. Best of luck with your move! I hope that one day I will be near mama ocean as well.
ReplyDeletethanks for dropping by Celina. it's the horizon and the sounds for me.
DeleteI'm not sure how I missed your West Country post, but I'm so glad you linked to it here. I'm so moved by the video, watching it and listening to his words were like someone reaching in and giving my soul the warmest embrace. A few tears and many head nodding "yes" moments. I'm beyond thrilled for you that you are moving to such an amazing part of the world and will be experiencing all of its magic first-hand.

i'm glad you got a chance to see that, special huh?
Deleteyour body will follow with joy. asking your mind for a little dance. congratulations on the first stones towards a dream!
ReplyDeletei love that image!
DeleteOh to be by the ocean......
ReplyDeletemay this time of transition bring you to a higher place
love and light
thank you lovely one.
DeleteHere's to finding joy in the anticipation of moving into your home amongst these stressful times. I love this line "Yet there is a figurative bounce to my step and a smile on my weary face." Showing that there's always hope and positivity amongst challenging times. Best wishes!
ReplyDeletei will always find hope and positivity, even if it means digging it out with my own bare hands lol ;)
DeleteI am very excited for you & your move, Mon. I saw the photos of your new place, I think it's very charming, love the look & little details. A stepping stone is always one step forward, I wish you all the best with the move & settling down in Devon.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely, one step forward!
Deletegood news you are finding you way to the ease of being in a new space.
ReplyDeletegoing over to check it out n your Mom's blog.
That's great news Mon!

Delete*sigh*
ReplyDeletegorgeous stuff...i'm so, so, SO gigantically thrilled for you..one step closer to the Land...
and the sea?
ye gods! heaven! if i close my eyes i can feel the cold salt wind whipping my face...
xoxo
ps. that little cottage is unbearably cute!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finding a place and I'm hoping you and your family have many many trips to the beach
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little cottage, and so close to the sea! I had to move from a very large house to a tiny cottage after my divorce, and found that I much preferred the latter (even with my two kiddos), so the small space may grow on you. I do understand that you want consistency for your little one, though...here's to hoping you find "The One" very soon, and can settle down for a good long while!

what a sweet place Monica! you will be so happy there!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the move. I love that part of Devon, Totnes is lovely, and the beaches...I am jealous. I think I prefer the beach in the winter when it is grey and cold and windswept and you can walk for miles. x
ReplyDeleteOh you are so close now!!! You have traversed and endured the most difficult leg, yes? May the rest become easier as you explore and dig in to your new home town...much love to you Monica!
ReplyDeletexo
Monica, I'm so far behind but it's lovely to come back here..I sigh when I read your words. Take care, all the very best for your move and times spent by the sea. Breathe it all in xo
ReplyDeletecongratulations. and good luck with the move :)
ReplyDeleteTender times just now... holding you in kind thoughts just now. And wishing you all good with the move, Monica. :o) ((HUGS))
