It has drizzled, misted, thundered and stormed, and like today, relentless. Weeks of rain. I secretly love it. I can't help it. It is a secret cave, a hide-away, a veil. A supporter of reading and snuggling.
Yet I know we need dry weather to continue the exterior works, and the deadline is looming, and the Husband is panicky.
But today is my girl's birthday, my birthing day, and Miss 4 brings sunshine indoors. A day for baking together methinks. Something chocolatey.
wish her a happy birthday from me. chocolate sounds good :)
ReplyDeletewill do! thanks :)
DeleteRaining here too,(love the pic) my love gets fidgety if he can't get outdoors, we also have lots to do, especially if we want to sell, which is on the cards.
ReplyDeleteMiss 4 wow, methinks you should have a wonderful chocolaty celebration with lots of memory pics! x
yes, he's both panicky at the work needing doing, and like a caged tiger because he likes being out.
DeleteHappy birthday miss 4! Enjoy the chocolate treat :)
ReplyDeleteRaining here too...and I'll be snuggling up with a book as soon as the little fella goes for his nap :)
thanks! and enjoy your book. i might do the same later...
DeleteOh, happy birthday Miss 4!!! And, happy birthing day to you! Chocolate cake is a fave here. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the rain, too. The sound, the smell, and how it gives me an excuse to slow down, maybe even relax a bit.
i don't trust people who dislike chocolate cake.... LOL
Delete4?!?!? where does the time go? *sigh*
ReplyDeletehappiest of birthing days to you, my dear and the most joyous of birth-days to your wee girl...although not so wee anymore.
i love the rain for all of those reasons....
i shall have chocolate today, on both your behalves...and also some for Mr. to help soothe his panicked state...:)
xoxo
thank you! and here's to mutual chocolate!
Deletehappy birthday girls :)
ReplyDeleteWe are in need of some rain around here; the sky has been grey for days but not a drop on the ground :-(
oh my, we have enough here for everyone!
DeleteHappiest of Birthdays Miss 4 :)
ReplyDeleteyou've travelled to S.A?! oh I would absolutely appreciate any advice or tips that you could give me :)
drop me a line if you like.
DeleteAbsolutely something chocolatey is in order! Some of my favorite memories are the ones where I helped bake and got to lick the batter from the bowl. Happy birthday to the little one.
ReplyDeleteshe loves cracking the eggs. it is a special sharing i think.
Deletehappy birthday, little one, and happy birthing day, mama. <3
ReplyDeletei love how you talk about rain...i love it too. here's hoping your day is filled with candlelight and giggles and chocolate kisses and incense and cuddles. xo.
thank you!
DeleteHappy Sparkly Birthday to the little one. I woke up to pissing rain and howling wind this morning so I totally used it as a 'reason' (excuse) to stay in bed and be cosy with my new Flora Bowley art book. And then I spent three hours painting. Every cloud! I'm a sunshine girl but I agree there is something very snuggly about rain. Enjoy the chocolatey kitchen excitement. x
ReplyDeleteaw thanks, she loved the sparkly bit!
DeleteHappy birthday to your daughter! You know, for many years I thought I hated the rain, but lately I am starting to enjoy it, I enjoy the sound and the smell of it and the fact that it's the perfect excuse to hide from the world and be where I love to be, at home:)
ReplyDeletethe sound of it on tin roofs is a favourite.
Deletei have come to realize that rain just sparks more creativity in me. it truly makes
ReplyDeleteme feel like it's the most comfortable and secure place for me. best wishes for your daughter. enjoy the chocolatey things.
yes! secure and safe and an opening for creativity and vulnerability!
Deletei'm with you. i secretly love the grey, rainy days. we had a bit of one yesterday afternoon and my heart soared and then, the sun came out. but today, today looks promisingly grey so i'm already planning a good read on the sofa later today.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to your sweet girl! and happy birth day to you!
"today looks promisingly grey"
DeleteLOL, love it. not many i could share such a sentiment with.
Happy birthday girls! How fun, I love birthdays and the magic they bring, how the world was changed on that day!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason the exterior work needs to be hindered by weather. Not sure why, but let's think its for a wonderful reason. xoxo
yes. ;) it's living with the panicky husband.... now there's the challenge. lol
Deletelol! a challenge indeed! :)
Deletehappy birthday little sprite!! and i love the rain too, especially here where we don't get much...
ReplyDeleteI totally get the hunkering in with the rain...we live in a coast rain forest so we get alot of rain here over winter and for the most part I love it
ReplyDeletethough I have to admit this year was a long cold wet winter and I have never been to see the winter rain stop and make room for the spring showers...they smell so good!
happy birthday to you little girl♥
love and light
Happy 4th to the little one !!!! and congrats to you on the 4th anniversary of your birthing day! 4 is such a fun age!!
ReplyDeleteI too love thunderstorms, LOVE them, and have always preferred rain to a hot sun.
And I absolutely adore that photo.
We are having an incredibly dry sunny warm Spring here in CT, USA... I could use a grey rainy day to fade away under quilts with a pile of books, tea & Erik Satie Gymnopédie No.1 playing over & over again... ahhhh dreamy...
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Miss 4!!
beautifully shared.
ReplyDeleteshe's no longer Miss 3!!!!
Happy Bday Sweet Little Darling!
XO
(p.s. my three year old is right behind her....)
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to the loved one!
ReplyDeletei felt like this most of the winter.
that i was so happy to have this cocoon to hide in. this is what winters and colder weather is for.
a time to withdraw, to be internal.
here it is now starting to be exactly the opposite. the season when all the energies turn outside, explode, and everything seems to be moving quicker.
enjoy.
Oh, how lovely! Happy birthday to Miss 4? And happy momversary for you. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's raining relentlessly here too. I like it at nights, sets the mood for snuggling under the blankets..
Ronnie xo
Happy Day to your little one!! Enjoy your wonderfully rainy, baking day together...
ReplyDeleteyour photograph suggests comfort to me. stay that way, full belly of cake and all, and happy birthday to your sweet:))
